Veterans Day has a completely different feeling this year... It just hit me exactly how different. It was a year ago today that I walked the halls of my childrens school as a part of the Veterans Day parade. I was there in place of my husband who deployed only 3 weeks earlier. I remember walking through the crowd and hearing the kids cheer. I remember how incredibly proud I felt. I watched our boys walk through the clouds of confetti and wave... hearing them being asked odd questions about my husband being in Afghanistan, I could see the pride in their faces as they answered. It went far beyond the simple statements they made. Its the same feeling I get when strangers walk up, shake his hand and thank him for his service. I know my husband hates the spotlight... but we are all so truly thankful for his service...
