Veterans Day is the most emotional holiday for me. 13 years I have served the US ARMY and the closer I get to retirement the more I realize how much I will miss everyone that I have served with. God has brought me home from 4 deployments but I think about my friends and comrades that didnt make it back home to their families. May you rest in peace I love you and miss you. Rip Seteria Brown.. Fort Carson, Colorado (Army) (110) 1. 1st Lt. Michael R. Adams, 24, of Seattle, Washington. a. Adams died in Al Asad, Iraq, when the barrel of the .50 caliber weapon mounted on his tank struck him. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on March 16, 2004. 2. Spc. Ronald D. Allen, Jr., 22, of Mitchell, Indiana. a. Allen was conducting convoy operations when he was involved in a vehicular accident near Balad, Iraq. Allen died of his injuries. He was assigned to the 502nd Personnel Service Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group. Died on August 25, 2003. 3. Pfc. Elden D. Arcand, 22, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. a. Arcand died in Mosul, Iraq, when his M915A1 tractor pulling a 7,500-gallon tanker accidentally rolled over. He was assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group. Died on August 21, 2005. 4. Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Bader, 28, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. a. Bader was on board a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter when it went down in Al Fallujah, Iraq. The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation is underway. Bader was assigned to Air Defense Artillery Battery, 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on November 2, 2003. 5. Staff Sgt. Stephen A. Bertolino, 40, of Orange, California. a. Bertolino was traveling in a convoy in Husaybah, Iraq when his vehicle was hit by enemy fire. He was assigned to Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on November 29, 2003. 6. Sgt. Timothy R. Boyce, 29, of North Salt Lake, Utah. a. Boyce died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of a non-combat related cause. He was assigned to the Maintenance Troop, Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on December 15, 2005. 7. Spc. Hoby F. Bradfield, Jr., 22, of The Woodlands, Texas. a. Bradfield died in Tal Afar, Iraq while he was conducting a dismounted cordon search. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on July 9, 2005. 8. Spc. Joshua T. Brazee, 25, of Sand Creek, Michigan. a. Brazee died in Al Qaim, Iraq, from non-combat related injuries. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on May 23, 2005. 9. Staff Sgt. Scottie L. Bright, 36, of Montgomery, Alabama. a. Bright died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol operations. He was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on July 5, 2005. 10. Sgt. Thomas F. Broomhead, 34, of Cannon City, Colorado. a. Broomhead was on guard at a checkpoint in Al Fallujah, Iraq when a vehicle pulled up and assailants fired on him. Broomhead was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment. Died on May 27, 2003. 11. Staff Sgt. Jeremy A. Brown, 26, of Mabscott, West Virginia. a. Brown died in Mosul Iraq, from injuries sustained earlier that day in Tal Afar, Iraq, when the HMMWV in which he was riding accidentally rolled over. He was assigned to the 66th Military Intelligence Company, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on July 3, 2005. 12. Staff Sgt. Ernest G. Bucklew, 33, of Enon Valley, Pennsylvania. a. Bucklew was on board a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter when it went down in Al Fallujah, Iraq. The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation is underway. Died on May 9, 2003. 17. Sgt. Tyrone L. Chisholm, 27, of Savannah, Georgia. a. Chisholm died in Tal Afar, Iraq, when multiple improvised explosive devices detonated near his M1A2 Abrams Tank. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on November 11, 2005. 18. Cpl. Gary B. Coleman, 24, of Pikeville, Kentucky. a. Coleman was on patrol in Balad, Iraq when the vehicle he was driving flipped over into a canal trapping him inside the vehicle. He was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 68th Armored Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (Mech). Died on November 21, 2003. 19. Spc. Ernest W. Dallas, Jr., 21, of Denton, Texas. a. Died on January 8, 2004. 22. Staff Sgt. Micheal E. Dooley, 23, of Pulaski, Virginia. a. Dooley was manning a traffic control point in Al Asad, Iraq when a vehicle came up to the checkpoint and two individuals got out requesting a medic for their sick friend. Immediately following the request for help, they opened fire on Dooley which resulted in his death. Dooley was assigned to 1st Squadron, B Troop, 4th Platoon, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment. Died on June 8, 2003. 23. Sgt. 1st Class Donald W. Eacho, 38, of Black Creek, Wisconsin. a. Eacho died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol. He was assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Died on March 4, 2005. 24. Spc. Phillip C. Edmundson, 22, of Wilson, North Carolina. a. Edmundson died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Died on June 1, 2005. 25. Capt. Brian R. Faunce, 28, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. a. Faunce was moving in a Bradley fighting vehicle in Al Asad, Iraq when his vehicle crossed under some low laying power lines. The soldier reached up and grabbed the lines and was fatally injured. Faunce was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. Died on September 18, 2003. 26. Spc. Rian C. Ferguson, 22, of Taylors, South Carolina. a. Ferguson died of injuries sustained in Quinn, Iraq when he fell from the light medium tactical vehicle in which he was a passenger. Ferguson was assigned to the Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on December 14, 2003. 27. Master Sgt. Richard L. Ferguson, 45, of Conway, New Hampshire. a. Ferguson died in Somara, Iraq, when the military vehicle he was riding in rolled over. He was assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group. Died on March 30, 2004. 28. Staff Sgt. Marion Flint, Jr., 29, of Baltimore, Maryland. a. Flint died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat patrol operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Died on May 15, 2006. 29. Pvt. Benjamin L. Freeman, 19, of Valdosta, Georgia. a. Freeman drowned near Al Asad, Iraq. Soldiers from his unit had been searching for Freeman when they discovered him floating on the surface of the water near Haditha dam. Attempts made to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Freeman was assigned to K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on October 13, 2003. 30. Staff Sgt. Brian L. Freeman, 27, of Caledonia, Mississippi. a. Freeman died in Baghdad, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on November 7, 2005. 31. Sgt. Denis J. Gallardo, 22, of St. Petersburg, Florida. a. Gallardo died in Tal Afar, Iraq, from a non-combat related illness. He was assigned to the Armys 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on November 22, 2005. 32. Pfc. Jesse A. Givens, 34, of Springfield, Missouri. a. Givens was parked in an M-1 main battle tank alongside the bank of the Euphrates River in Al Habbaniyah, Iraq. The riverbank gave way resulting in the tank falling into the river. Givens was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on May 1, 2003. 33. Sgt. Christopher A. Golby, 26, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. a. Golby was a crew member onboard a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter when it crashed near Fallujah, Iraq while on a MEDEVAC mission. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance). Died on January 8, 2004. 34. Spc. David J. Goldberg, 20, of Layton, Utah. a. Goldberg died of a non-combat related injury in Qayyarah, Iraq. He was assigned to C Company, 52nd Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), U.S. Army Reserve, 43rd Area Support Group. Died on November 26, 2003. 35. Capt. Sean Grimes, 31, of Southfield, Michigan. a. Grimes died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol. He was assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Died on March 4, 2005. 36. CWO Hans N. Gukeisen, 31, of Lead, South Dakota. a. Gukeisen was onboard an UH-60 air medical helicopter which crashed in the Tigris River in a non-hostile incident near Samarrah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 571st Air Medical Company. Died on May 9, 2003. 37. CWO Dennis P. Hay, 32, of Valdosta, Georgia. a. Hay died in Tal Afar, Iraq, when his OH-58D Kiowa helicopter came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on August 29, 2005. 38. Master Sgt. Kelly L. Hornbeck, 36, of Fort Worth, Texas. a. Hornbeck sustained injuries on January 16 when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle, south of Samarra, Iraq. He was initially evacuated to the 21st Combat Support Hospital and then moved to the 28th CSH for further treatment where he later died. Hornbeck was assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group. Died on January 18, 2004. 39. Spc. Christopher L. Hoskins, 21, of Danielson, Connecticut. a. Hoskins died in Ramadi, Iraq, when his unit was conducting combat operations and was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Died on June 21, 2005. 40. Staff Sgt. Curtis T. Howard II, 32, of Ann Arbor, Michigan. a. Kinslow died in Ramadi, Iraq, when his military vehicle came under a grenade attack while conducting combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. Died on June 13, 2005. 46. Pvt. Joseph L. Knott, 21, of Yuma, Arizona. a. Knott died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his convoy was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire and an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on April 17, 2005. 47. Cpl. Jared W. Kubasak, 25, of Rocky Mount, Virginia. a. Laskowski, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona. a. Laskowski died in Habbinayah, Iraq, when the OH-58 helicopter in which he was flying crashed. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, Outlaw Troop, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on February 25, 2004. 51. Staff Sgt. William T. Latham, 29, of Kingman, Arizona. a. Latham was participating in a raid at a suspected arms market in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on May 19 when he was hit with shrapnel. Latham was evacuated back to the United States where he died of his wounds at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, D.C. He was assigned to Troop E, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on June 18, 2003. 52. Pfc. Vorn J. Mack, 19, of Orangeburg, South Carolina. a. Mack jumped into the Euphrates River near the Hadithah Dam, west of Ar Ramadi, Iraq to take a swim and did not resurface. A search party found Macks body downstream on August 24. Mack was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on August 23, 2003. 53. CWO Ian D. Manuel, 23, of Florida. a. Manuel was a crew member onboard a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter when it crashed near Fallujah, Iraq while on a MEDEVAC mission. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance). Died on January 8, 2004. 54. Spc. Joseph L. Martinez, 21, of Las Vegas, Nevada. a. Martinez died in Tal Afar, Iraq, when his dismounted patrol was engaged by enemy forces using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on August 27, 2005. 55. Maj. Michael R. Martinez, 43, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. a. Martinez died near Tal Afar, Iraq, when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed. He was assigned to 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Died on January 7, 2006. 56. Cpl. Stephen M. McGowan, 26, of Newark, Delaware. a. McGowan died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol. Died on September 20, 2003. 58. Sgt. Gordon F. Misner II, 23, of Sparks, Nevada. a. Misner died near Balad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Died on February 22, 2006. 59. Sgt. Keman L. Mitchell, 24, of Hilliard, Florida. a. Mitchell jumped into seven-foot deep body of water in Kirkuk, Iraq. When he failed to resurface, members of his squad retrieved him. Medical personnel went to the scene and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Mitchell was evacuated to a forward surgical team and was pronounced dead on arrival. Mitchell was assigned to Company C, 4th Engineer Battalion. Died on May 26, 2003. 60. Staff Sgt. Jason W. Montefering, 27, of Parkston, South Dakota. a. Montefering died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Prince died in Al Taqaddum, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. Died on June 11, 2005. 78. Staff Sgt. Michael B. Quinn, 37, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. a. Quinn was on guard duty at a checkpoint in Al-Fallujah, Iraq when a vehicle pulled up and assailants fired on him. Quinn was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment. Died on May 27, 2003. 79. Spc. Nicholas R. Idalski, 23, of Crown Point, Indiana. a. Idalski died in Ramadi, Iraq, when his unit was conducting combat operations and was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire.
