Veterans with dogs who may be interested in exploring Nose work, - TopicsExpress

Veterans with dogs who may be interested in exploring Nose work, at no cost, should check out the availability of this program in your area. Shared from our wall: There is a new Facebook Group called, “K9 Nose Work for Returning Veterans with Dogs” (“K9NW4RV”), that is a group of K9 Nose Work® Instructors and Professional Detection Dog Trainers located all over the United States and in Canada that would like to show our appreciation to our Returning Veterans by offering “Nose Work Classes Started With Primary” to Returning Veterans with dogs for free. Nose Work classes have enriched the lives of so many civilian handlers and their dogs and we believe that this training could be very beneficial to Returning Veterans as well. In these free classes, Returning Veterans’ dogs will be trained to hunt for a primary reward (i.e., food or toys) in exterior search areas, interior search areas, vehicles and containers for enrichment purposes. And, while beyond the scope of this offer, canine teams can move on to target odors and the opportunity of competing in organized competitions at their discretion. To find out more about this training as a sport, please check out the official K9 Nose Work® website: funnosework/ Rules and regulations can be found at the “National Association of Canine Scent Work” website: nacsw.net/ Also, please check out the website scentinelnosework/ for additional information. While geared to Returning Veterans who are experiencing some challenges in integrating back into civilian life, this offer goes out to any Returning Veteran with a dog from any U.S. military deployment or operation. This offer also extends to members of U.S. Allies Forces. Please take the time to visit our Open Group on Facebook (“FB”) called “K9 Nose Work for Returning Veterans with Dogs.” In the FILES section of the K9NW4RV FB Group, we have uploaded a “Position Statement” which outlines the scope of this offer. Additionally, we have uploaded a “List of Instructors” that are participating in this offer. Finally, over the next few weeks, we will be uploading videos on to our K9NW4RV FB Group that illustrate what we will be offering in our “Nose Work Classes Started With Primary.” While we might not have enough Trainers right now to work with everyone that might want to take advantage of this offer, or there might not be a Trainer in your area, we are growing daily. So keep checking the “Instructors List” to see if a Trainer has been added to your area and is offering classes for Returning Veterans with dogs. If there is a Trainer in your area, please contact that Trainer directly to find out about training opportunities with them. We again thank all Veterans, including their canine warriors, and their families, for their service and for all of their sacrifices on our behalf.
