Vets Day is a day we can celebrate veterans and their service to our country. Its nice to reflect on what t hey did. I see alot of your tributes you friends and family. Thats great. Its good you have those pictures, stories. Unfortunately, I have little info on my dads missions. I knew he was a tanker pilot in Strategic Air Command where he flew KC97s until about 1964. The KC97 is gone, but its cousin was the Super Guppy, still flown today. I knew he transitioned to MC130s. I havent a clue what happened from 1964, thru his Vietnam tour, up to 1968. We moved to Hawaii in 1968. He flew a different model of a C130 in Hawaii. We where there for 3 years. Again, I had no Idea what this mission was. I have seen no pictures of his C130 days from about 1964 to 1971. He flew 6800 total (apparently, as my dad put it, they could only fly for about 16 or 18 years back then) hours, had multiply Bronze Stars, Distinguished Flying Crosses, and Air Medals. Dad did all those spooking missions. It was weird stuff. My uncle Barry went to Vietnam, but not sure what he did. Sorry, I just dont have anything to show or talk about. Kind of boring, huh?
