Australian airline Qantas, which has a fatality-free record in the jet era, topped the list again. AirlineRatings editors cited Qantas for its extraordinary record of firsts in safety and operations and is now accepted as the world’s most experienced airline. AirlineRatings identified the rest of the top 10, in alphabetical order, as: Air New Zealand, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. The website said its rating system takes into account several factors related to audits from the FAA and ICAO, government audits and the airline’s fatality record. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was recognized as one of the top 10 safest airlines in the world out of 449 global airlines. Our commitment to the safety and security of our guests and staff is a cornerstone of our company. We’re naturally delighted to be listed in the top ten and that’s where we want to stay. All of our staff are accountable for the delivery of the highest level of safety performance, James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer for Etihad Airways, said. Etihad operates two flights daily between Abu Dhabi and Manila using Boeing 777-300 aircraft with 28 seats in Business Class and 384 in Economy Class. Etihad Airways is one of small group of elite airlines that are both seven star for safety and for product. From a safety perspective Etihad Airways has made excellence in safety a number one priority and has become a benchmark for best practice, Geoffrey Thomas, Editor of AirlineRatings, said.
