Via Gardner Dozois: Today is National Bosss Day. Its not good enough that they make much more than you do for doing less work, now they have to have a DAY as well. Clearly, life isnt fair. Today youre supposed to show your appreciation for your bosss wise supervision and guidance by doing something nice for them, like getting them an appreciative card, or taking up a collection in the office to buy them a bouquet of flowers, or buying them lunch. Youll notice that the stingy bastard, who makes much more than you do, never buys YOU lunch. Since today is also National Dictionary Day, you can also comb through a dictionary to find obscure but insulting words that your boss wont realize are insulting, which you can call them while youre picking up the check for lunch. Its also Department Store Day, so I suppose you could pay for your boss to go on a Shopping Spree at a nearby Department Store (if any still exist in your town; theyre rapidly being pushed into extinction by shopping malls) instead. Today is also World Food Day, so I guess that anything you want to have for dinner would be okay, assuming that you have any money left after buying your boss a lavish lunch. Wash it down with lots of liqueur, though, for today is also National Liqueur Day.
