Via Kris Connolly No more Council Tax money to support the occupation of Palestine If you pay council tax in Coventry, Solihull, Birmingham, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley or Wolverhampton you are helping to fund the Arms Trade and repressive activities in Palestine. The West Midlands Pension Fund has invested £92,378,256 of our money in companies involved in the arms trade, including some who produce cluster bombs. A further £ 8,426,264 is invested in: Caterpillar £2,749,239 Hewlett Packard £2,307,945 G4S £2,025,230 Motorola £986,105 Veolia £ 357,745 G4S: * provides scanning machines and full body scanner equipment for Israeli checkpoints in occupied Palestine; * provides security services to illegal settlement businesses, including in Modi’in Illit, Ma’ale Adumin, Har Adar and the settlement neighbourhoods of East Jerusalem; * operates Israeli prison services in contravention of Articles 49 and 76 of the 4th Geneva Convention. Motorola: * provide the Israeli military with encrypted mobile phone technology. Israeli boarder guards at checkpoints inside Palestinian territory and Israeli soldiers take their orders through a Motorola device. * their virtual fences and surveillance systems are used at dozens of illegal Israeli settlements built on Palestinian land. All these firms violate international law and profit from the occupation of Palestine. Explain what these firms do to violate international law in Palestine and say why you object to your money being invested in them.
