Leard State Forest is a beautiful old growth box gum forest the largest remnant of bushland left on the liverpool plains. The forest is teeming with wildlife, home to 365 species of plants and animals, including prime koala habitat, swift parrot, regent honey eaterm masked owl, wallaroo, and yellow bellied sheath-tailed bat. The surrounding farmland is some of the most productive land in the country - the liverpool plains food bowl. Whitehaven and Idemitsu have been expanding massive open cut coal mines through the forest - leading to catastrophic climate change, gross environmental destruction and the destruction of local community. Front Line Action on Coal has been campaigning against the expansion of coal in the forest and farms for over a year. Join in support of the Forest Defence, Farmers and Traditional Owners that are protecting the land and our future.
