Via TMR: Please be advised that the Leichhardt Highway remains closed at the Don River Bridges, between Wowan and Banana, due to a washout of the side-track at the Don River Bridges construction site. Overnight storms in the area have resulted in further damage to the side-track. While access to the worksite has been restricted, the Don River Bridge construction works have not experienced damage as a result of the wet weather. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is focusing all project resources on completing the Don River Bridges project and reopening the Leichhardt Highway as soon as possible. At this time, the Leichhardt Highway is expected to reopen to traffic on Tuesday, 16 December 2014. Until the Leichhardt Highway reopens, an alternate route is available via the Burnett Highway and Dawson Highway, west of Biloela.
