Via Welcome to the Machine :( According a study, which was just published in the journal PLOS One, researchers concluded that if climate change and its causes continue “business as usual,” or worsen in the coming years, polar bears in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago could be erased from the landscape by 2100. This study comes on the heels of another from the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey and other organizations, which found a large population of polar bears in the Southern Beaufort Sea region of Alaska and Canada has decreased from 1,500 in 2001 to just 900 in 2010, a decline of 40 percent, because of a loss of sea ice. care2/causes/if-experts-are-right-arctic-polar-bears-could-be-gone-by-2100.html#ixzz3LDO1SlIS
