Via noaa.gov: A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 4:30 p.m. for central Eddy County. At 3:35 p.m. a spotter reported hail up to ping pong size in north Carlsbad. At 3:47 p.m. National Weather Service Doppler Radar continued to detect a severe thunderstorm capable of producing golf ball size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located near Carlsbad moving northeast at 15 mph. Some locations affected by the severe thunderstorm include Carlsbad, North Carlsbad, Lake Avalon and Avalon. This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to shelter, preferably inside a strong building away from windows.
