Via @https://facebook/PresidentialStrategicCommunicationsUnitDigital?ref=bookmarks President receives report with tough recommendations in anti-terror war BY JIBRIL ADAN NAIROBI December 4, 2014 (PSCU) –President Uhuru Kenyatta has received a report with tough recommendations on rectifying administrative and legal hurdles that limit the Government’s ability to deal with the threat of terrorism. The President had on Tuesday instructed the Government’s security actors to engage with members of relevant committees of the Legislature to identify the legal and administrative weaknesses that make the country vulnerable to terrorism. The report was presented to the President today in the afternoon by a joint committee comprised of the National Security Council and joint Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence. “The President has received the report and will apply his mind before submitting his recommendations to Parliament through the laid down procedures,” said Mr Manoah Esipisu, the State House Spokesperson. President Kenyatta had on Tuesday given the team today’s deadline and had also requested the National Assembly to extend its sittings until the process of identifying the weak spots in law and administration is completed. The President had also urged all other arms of Government to work with the Executive in confronting the threats of terror. “I also call upon other arms of Government, particularly the Judiciary and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to work with us and seal all gaps that hinder the effective operations to secure the country,” he said. In his speech to the Nation on Tuesday, the President also asked Kenyans to appreciate and honour the men and women in uniform who serve in difficult and trying circumstances to defend the country and its people. “We have lost hundreds of them as they work to defend us. For this reason, I urge all Kenyans to support and pray for our security forces at all times,” the Head of State said. ENDS
