To do this we need to learn how to build strong relationships. Every day should be a celebration, despite the problems and hardships thrown at us. To reach this point, we need to ‘live by choice, not by chance.’ Unfortunately, some Christians have skewed ideas of who God is. These wrong beliefs sap their joy. Sometimes they don’t even realize that their beliefs are wrong, and holding them back from celebrating life. These are a few beliefs people have told me that have soured their joy and relationships. 1. God is a monster waiting to destroy us if we sin 2. God is way out there and not a part of my daily life 3. God does not see/like/listen to/love me when I __________ 4. I am saved, but not really one of Gods children. Ill just barely get to Heaven 5. I am such a poor sinner that Id never get to heaven without Grace 6. God is punishing me 7. Jesus’ blood is not enough to heal my pain/forgive my sin. 8. God does not want an intimate relationship with me 9. My father betrayed me - God will betray me 10. God is a big judge measuring every sin, and punishing every offence Jesus did not die to make us sin conscious. God is not obsessed with sin. He did not create us so that he would have someone to punish. However, because we punish our home and church family for the sins of the past, we believe that God is sitting there waiting to take a Pound of Flesh whenever we sin. Blessings of Love and Relationships God wants us to love, be loved, and enjoy life. He built us for relationships. He wants us to enjoy our relationships. But pain, unrealistic beliefs, religious dogma, and social stigmas skew our behaviors and beliefs. This poisons our ability to enjoy relationships. Most of our relationship problems stem from two things, our own self worth, and our belief in God. If we truly believe that God has forgiven us, unconditionally, then we have no trouble letting go of our pain. Trust is not an issue. Giving more than we get is a joy. If we truly believed that God loves us, then we would have no trouble forgiving others. If we truly accepted God as our father, we would not want to hurt other people as weve been hurt. If we truly accepted our Salvation, we would not demand our rights at the cost of hurting others. Change Your Life The wonderful thing is that we are not made like the trees, we can change. We can choose to change. Today, you can start making changes. suzannewiebe/do-i-need-a-christian-life-coach/celebrate-life/
