Victoria Ledbetter 1970-2014…..In Memory Miss America! No contests, no judges, and no second place; No Catwalks, no trophies, does she embrace. The warmth and love that dwells from within, Spakles like diamonds, her day begins. Her world is small; from her room to the hall, Her room is her tomb, abandoned by all. The sadness is there, and often despair, From the depth of her soul; Her arms raised for air. She sits and remembers the days gone by, Her loved ones are gone, the pain makes her cry. Isolation, the kind that few could endure, Her constant companion, she tries to ignore. No fancy clothes adorn her reflection, Just an old wedding dress, I have seen her caress. A kind word, a gentle touch, she searches and dreams, Growing weary of such. A face and a glow that angels would envy Scrubbed clean and fresh, with no signs of stress. Her eyes tell a story; they never betray, whats in her heart. An innocent child, she knows not the art. No deception does this fine lady persist, She gives what she has to all who exist..... In her tiny box, she welcomes her flock, They rush to her screen to honor their Queen. She knows all quite well; aware of our needs, She tends to us daily, to our broken dreams. Always there; with her love to share, She shouts out I love you Our spirits soar! No glitter of gold, no diamonds or gems, Can ever replace a love for our friend. Victoria Lee; Miss America, to me.
