Weather Situation A deep low pressure system is to the southwest of Adelaide and an associated low pressure trough is just west of Victoria. The trough will cross Victoria today as the low passes to the southwest of Victoria with strong to gale force northerly winds extending throughout. A cold front will cross the State on Friday, with a cold and unstable west to southwesterly airstream extending across Victoria during Saturday. Damaging winds around 60-70 km/h with peak gusts up to 110 km/h are forecast to develop over parts of all Victorian districts except for the Mallee. Elevated areas are most susceptible to the higher gusts. Wind gusts up to 130 km/h are likely over Alpine areas during Thursday afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain may lead to flash flooding over parts of the Northern Country, North Central and North East forecast districts late Thursday afternoon and evening.
