#Victoria #SevereWeather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts Issued at 3:04 pm EDT on Monday 15 December 2014. Weather Situation A low pressure trough will remain over central and eastern Victoria tonight. The trough will move eastwards early Tuesday then a cold front will move across the State during the afternoon and evening. An associated deep low pressure system will pass just south of Tasmania. DAMAGING WINDS averaging up to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 95 km/h are forecast for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts in association with the passage of the cold front on Tuesday afternoon. In the early morning before the front arrives, northerly winds up to 75 km/h with gusts to 110 km/h are expected to affect Alpine parts of the Northeast and Gippsland districts above 1000 metres elevation.
