Barbara Simonetta, RN, said the technical employees, “wanted to join the union because the employer had cut their paid time off by 10 to 15 days,” assuring them they would also do the same to union-represented employees at the hospital. When the union members’ time-off benefits stayed intact after contract negotiations, the unrepresented workers decided they also wanted to become unionized.
