Video: Solihull ex-rugby club house wrecked by blaze. A suspected arson attack hits former rugby club house of the Birmingham & Solihull Bees in Sharmans Cross Road, Solihull. Firefighters were called out to tackle a “severe fire” at the club house on Thursday (8th) at 8.28pm. The building is named the Arden Club and is derelict. West Midlands Police and the fire service believe the fire was started deliberately. Four fire engines were needed to put out the blaze, using three main jets and two hose reels. Eight firefighters also needed to use breathing apparatus. A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “It was a severe fire in a brick built club house – 50 metres by 20 metres. “Sixty per cent of the building was affected by the fire. The gas and electric was isolated and firefighters returned the next day to check the building. “No one was in the building at the time.”
