[Video of the Day] Like we promised, Luis Conte and Jimmy Branly, one historic session that displays only part of the wide variety of things these two masters musicians can do. This is the first video of several we produced with these two master drummers at Jimmys recording studio in California, which by the way we fully recommend ;) so stay tuned for more. What can be said about them that you dont already know? Not too much. Some of the main things to look in Luis playing are the different rumba patterns he experiments with on congas as well as his solo ideas on both conga and timbal. Not to mention his versatility. As far as Jimmy, there are many drum set ideas that he uses that will blow your mind first, but then you should check them out and assimilate them. His solo ideas are also useful for all, not only drummers, as he incorporates lots of timbalistics ideas in his solos. So there is plenty to learn as far as how to approach Afro-Cuban music on drumset. Together, they sound like they rehearsed this jam session, well...they didnt, they are good listeners.
