Sergeant Brian Donohoue, age 54, was arrested by the Rock County Sheriff’s Department for a domestic related battery on September 25, 2014. The police department learned of potential domestic violence issues between Sergeant Brian Donohoue and his wife Mrs. Donohoue on August 24th. The department conducted an internal investigation which revealed that no domestic violence occurred. Services were offered to Mrs. Donohoue. Sergeant Donohoue feared another false accusation of violence so he took precautions to reduce the likelihood of a false police report. A domestic violence incident was reported on September 23rd. Sergeant Donohue was placed on administrative leave. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office was requested to investigate the criminal allegation. The Janesville Police Department conducted the internal investigation. The Rock County Sheriff’s Department arrested Sergeant Brian Donohoue for domestic related battery on September 25th. District Attorney David O’Leary reviewed the criminal investigation and on October 10th decided that no charges would be filed and the matter was dropped. The police department’s internal investigation revealed credibility concerns with Mrs. Donohoue before and after the alleged domestic violence issue. There will be no discipline of Sergeant Donohoue and he will return to work on Monday October 13th.
