Villa 0-0 West Ham - HT: It’s been a fairly uneventful first-half played in tricky conditions here at Villa Park. West Ham made the brighter start with Matt Jarvis causing a few problems for the home side’s back four. Jarvis sent a low cross towards Stewart Downing at the back post but Ryan Bertrand did well to get in front of the former Villa winger and stop him from scoring. Then Jarvis twice beat the offside trap. His first effort was deflected into the side-netting and his second went wide of the target. Vlla finished the half strongly with two chances from outside the box. Fabian Delph sent a 25-yard drive just wide and Ashley Westwood rifled a volley inches past the post after Andi Weimann’s header sat up nicely for him on the edge of the box.
