Vincennes University students placed 3,000 flags at the corner of Second and Indianapolis streets on Tuesday as part of the preparation to observe 9/11. The project was sponsored by the VU 21st Century Scholars program. 9/11 is shorthand for four terrorist attacks in the U.S. that killed 2,977 persons on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. The flags at VU will remain through Monday. From left are VU students Chad Peyron, Fishers; Tre Sutter, Martinsville; Grant Campbell, North Judson; and Kyle Johns, Middletown. At right is Justin Robinson, support specialist for the 21st Century Scholars program. It is hard to believe that many of our students were in either kindergarten or first grade.
