Violence is natural. Excessive accumulation of energy needs to - TopicsExpress

Violence is natural. Excessive accumulation of energy needs to erupt. Its easy to sit back and be dismissive of violence. It shocks us. It upsets us. It disgusts us. But to dismiss it, to vilify one group, victimize another group, sensationalize the act of violence in and of itself is mistaken on so many levels. It does nothing to alleviate root problems, it only masks feelings, emotions, realities. It only returns conditions to a false sense of peace without putting in objective effort to understand how, why, when. When is an important question to ask. When is not limited to exact time of assault. When means taking a look back to understand the original seeds of resentment, anger, fear, pain that were planted in the garden of the so called villain. Who planted them? Who watered them? Who kept the poisonous plants alive watching the flowers blossom? What if it was todays victim of violence who planted those seeds to begin with, watered them daily and watched them grow? But if it was the villain then why did the victim accept? Why did the victim not uproot the poisonous plants at the very first sighting but witnessed their growth, thereby silently accepting their presence in the garden? There are those who are innocent in the game of violence, who have no hand in the story whatsoever. With no understanding and no choice but to remain, there are those who are forced to pay an unfair debt. Violence is ugly not for the blood. Not for the destruction. It is ugly because it is that point in time when all the neglect comes to light. The neglected words. The neglected actions. The neglected uprooting of a tiny sprout left to grow, to bloom and become todays monster. Violence can also be beautiful because it is an important turning point. It is so shocking and unwanted that it will facilitate an entire renewal to take place. It is the call that a new garden is needed, one where the right seeds are planted. Unwittingly glorifying violence is at best ignorant, at worst hypocritical. Glorification of violence is presenting that one moment in time with intent to shock, to disgust, to gain attention. It lacks depth of analysis, knowledge of facts and sincerity in creating a better world because its dominant interest is misunderstood morbid fascination. Knowingly glorifying violence on the other hand, morbid fascination that is dissected, acknowledged and encouraged, well what can one say? The element of irreducible rascality....
