Virasat is a cultural festival comprising all aspects of Indian cultural heritage, and is held at various educational institutions across India. This week-long festival includes performances and workshops in Indian folk and classical arts, literature, crafts, cinema and yoga. With the doyens of classical music and dance lending their support to the movement, SPIC MACAY IIT Roorkee Heritage Club conducts a number of programs on campus as well as in the neighboring schools and colleges. The festival is spread over a period of seven days, and showcase the classical and folk art forms of India in the form of performances, workshops and film festivals. In the past, great maestros like Pt. Ravi Shankar, Late Us. Bismillah Khan, Smt. Gangu bai Hangal , Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya, Ustad Asad Ali Khan , M.S. Gopalkrishnan, and a lots of others have graced Virasat with their Graceful Performances. Spurred by the success of previous Virasat fests, we intend to make this celebration an even greater success. This time we are dedicating Virasat to Mandolin maestro Uppalapu Shrinivas, Writer Shri U.R.Ananthamurthy, Yoga guru Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, Actress Smt. Zohra Sehgal and Bharatnatyam dancer Shri Adyar K.Lakshman. Presenting you the glimpse of VIRASAT.
