Virtues of Shaheed The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Before Allah, the Shaheed has six virtues: he is forgiven from the first drop of blood shed; he will be shown his place in Paradise; he will be protected from the torment of the grave; he will be safe from the greater terror (of the Day of Resurrection); a crown of dignity will be placed on his head, of which one ruby is better than this world and all that is in it; he will be married to seventy-two of the al-Hoor al-Iyn; and he will intercede for seventy of his relatives.” [Sunaan at-Tirmidhi] After the fear the Shaheed (martyr) experienced in worldly life, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will not allow him to be subjected to any more fear, hardship, or grief. The Shaheed is instantly forgiven his sins, shown his place in Paradise, and protected from the hardships of the grave. When people are filled with terror on the Day of Resurrection, the Shaheed will feel no fear for he has already begun to experience the vast bounties of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) on him and knows that there is much more to look forward to.
