Visited my big BROTHER, Felagai Laumea Jr., in the hospital today. My sister always wants to visit him and I always get mad because I dont like seeing him that way-- hurt, sad and lonely. Do you think I like seeing him in pain? He gets emotional when we leave and I dont like that shit because we have to leave him there regardless if he cries. My brother has SOTOS SYNDROME so he doesnt know how to do some things or talk to people and people dont know how to respond to him appropriately because can get a little inappropriate. Ive seen the way the nurses talk to him or about him to us while hes sitting there. They dont know that hes highly capable of understanding EVERYTHING that they say and do. He gets facial expressions and hand gestures too, aint no beating around the with this niggah. He may not understand some stuff when youre talking to him or asking him questions but you just have to ask it or say it a certain way. Last time I was there during his physical therapy and the Physician asked him, Are you using your arms more or your legs? when he was using the bars to stand up and sit down from his wheelchair but he kept saying, Huh? after she asked like 2times. She was gonna ask again but I cut her off and asked, Gai, are you using your legs more or your arms more to stand up? And he answered, My arms. Sometimes you have to be specific with him, how the hell is he suppose to know what youre talking about? His condition is almost like AUTISM in some aspects. You can talk about basketball and ask Which team do you like? That doesnt mean he knows the question is about basketball because hell ask you, Which team? Which basketball team? I just hate seeing that guy in the hospital, its fuccing depressing. I know my sister means well when she wants to visit him but I have my reasons too. I like to go visit him when I feel like it not when YOU want to . I know that boy. Hes MY big brother I had to look after all my life, I know him. You dont think it hurts me seeing him like that? Sheesh!...
