Visiting family this past week, I experienced first hand what it feels like to need homeopathic Veratrum album. Cutting burning abdominal cramps such as Ive never felt before (probably small intestine, not large intestine). Then theres diarrhea and vomiting. Once that was done, joint pain - seering arthritic pains in the major joints of the body. My mother was ill first, right when we arrived, so I didnt know to give her this remedy. I succumbed next - Arsenicum album didnt seem to work, nor did Pulsatilla (these were before the trip to the bathroom with the bucket). Later that night (yes, Christmas Eve), when offspring hollered around midnight about needing to puke, I dosed him up with Veratrum once he finished his bout. He had no more symptoms or complaints. The next night, my niece started complaining of cramps - and I dosed her up with Veratrum promptly, she went to sleep and showed no other signs of distress. It is just sheer stupid luck that I had my remedy kit with me at all because I tried to travel light (given that it was a Christmas trip with an international border involved), and I had only a basic kit with about 2 dozen remedies that I grabbed as I was leaving, just in case. No herbs, no clay, no activated charcoal, no kefir, no master tonic... in the middle of rural farm country with no health food store in sight.
