Visitor, friend, member – which is right for you? We extend a warm welcome to all at Kingswood Meeting House who wish to worship in the spirit of freedom. Everyone who cherishes that spirit - whether they are a member or not - is welcome to attend our Services and to take part in our activities. With freedom, of course, comes responsibilities and we ask everyone who attends Kingswood to respect those around them. People naturally want to ‘try us out’ and may come for weeks or months before deciding that Kingswood is their religious home. If you are one of those people who have decided that Kingswood is the right place for you to be, then maybe you would like to consider becoming a member. To become a member of Kingswood Meeting House we ask that you are supportive of our aims and our values. (A good question to ask yourself is ‘Are you happy affirming the Covenant which we say at the end of each Sunday Service?’). Beyond that, there is no obligation to subscribe to a particular standard of belief to be a member. Unitarians think that beliefs are very personal things and will vary from person to person! Each member is entitled to vote at our meetings (and vote in a Committee to administrate the affairs of the Meeting House). Members are entitled to stand for election to the Management Committee. In the event of a pulpit vacancy, it will be the members who will decide who their next Minister will be. This is the “business” part of membership, but being a member is about far more than that… Being a member means you want to participate in our life together. It means you stand with us and support us. Members pledge to support the work of the Meeting House with their time, talent and – to the best of their abilities – with their finances. That support is a two way thing: when you commit to Kingswood, then Kingswood commits to you. We commit to support you on your journey and to give you opportunities to be involved in a vibrant religious community. If you are interested in become a member than have a word with the Minister. Names are ratified by the Management Committee and then new members are welcomed in to membership at a Sunday Service. Kingswood Meeting House: The small chapel with the BIG heart. There’s room for YOU too!
