Viswanathan Anand was the first person in India to be awarded the Grandmaster Title by FIDE - the World Chess Federation. But long before him there was an Indian (from pre-independence era) who took the entire Chess World by storm by winning the British Championship Thrice in 1929, 1932 & 1933. He also represented England three times in the Chess Olympiad in 1930, 1931 & 1933. And perhaps the most famous win in his Chess career came when he defeated former World Champion Jose Raul Capablanca in a game. In fact Capablanca, an all time Chess Great had called him a Genius. According to the authors of The Oxford Companion to Chess he was perhaps the greatest natural player of modern times. He was considered one of the Worlds top ten players in his time. According to the modern rating system, he was about 2550 in strength and was easily a Grandmaster. This also means that he was the first ever Asian Grandmaster of chess though he was never officially conferred any such title by FIDE. * Q. Identify this Chess Great whose entry into and exit from the Chess World happened under strange circumstances?
