Vitamin Note: Difference between RDA, DRI, and Therapeutic Dose Recommended Dietary Allowance: The RDA, the estimated amount of a nutrient (or calories) per day considered necessary for the maintenance of good health by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council/ National Academy of Sciences. Recommended Dietary Intakes (RDIs) are the levels of intake of essential nutrients considered, in the judgement of the National Health and Medical Research Council, on the basis of available scientific knowledge to be adequate to meet the known nutritional needs of practically all healthy people. Therapeutic Dose Amount of vitamin/nutrient required to result in a therapeutic benefit Fact: Most RDA and DRI levels fall well short of the therapeutic doses often determined by medical research. Before you take your next vitamin/mineral supplement....Do you know what the therapeutic dose is? For those of you with joint pains, the recommended therapeutic dose is 1 g of EPA and DHA Fish oil capsules contain approx - 100 mg of EPA When you do your maths you know you going to need to take at least 10 fish oil capsules to get the therapeutic does of EPA to help with your joint pains.... Happy swallowing....
