Viva La Filipinas! or The Man I Used to Be - This, perhaps is one of my greatest poems. Viva La Filipinas! or The Man I Used To Be by Carlo G. Soldevilla Written on July 13, 2014 @ Imus, Cavite July 21, 2014 - When Butch Abad will be grilled. The Senators will ask him Were your dreams fulfilled? I ask the young people to march to the senate that day, They have used the government coffers-to our dismay. We Filipinos are not a fool. The president may want us to be cool. But look, our rights have been trampled up to this day, The cost of the ***bawang and the high price of rice--They can say... That we have not prospered after all, The gap between the rich and the poor is not small. We have the right to peaceful rally as provided for in our constitution, Not driven by political patronage, nor by the leftists, rightists, centrists, any sect or organization. The Filipino attitude is unique---all around the world. We dont leave the problem-rock or stone not left un hurled. Lets go there.. to the senate on our own. Respect the police, give them flowers, they have children of their own. Should the media watch us: BBC, Solar or CNN... Fox would be better. Fox, yes indeed, a watchdog-it should be watching. When it (fox) sees the light beyond darkness, it must be howling.. We have seen the light, We must do good things with all our might. Meet me in my G-strings, or in my long-sleeved wear, We, tired Filipino servants who love our country forever. Now is the best time to lead in all humility, Our children want to know what freedom really means-the true meaning of liberty. Go, attend the rally, express your indignation, Like what the Americans did when they removed their shackles-for them, that was liberation. If others maliciously caused our suffering, he/she must suffer, not we - This, our hearts were inflamed. The innocent must go free. Yes, the innocent must not be the ones to be blamed. If the success equation is X plus Y equals Z, What causes the bird to be free? X must be wings, and Y, the desire. Flight is not impossible, well be set free from quagmire. With our mouths shut, we can still be heard. Our silent march revealing, silent drills not done by nerd. Quite opposing?, everything in irony? Yes, without vocal utterances, we can be heard clearly. This must be a poem, a simple code of silence, Not for the military, not a hunger strike, but with substance. Our feet will not be callous when we walk to the Senate. But dont, if youre paralyzed. Like Mabini- Just think and contemplate. We cant wait for 2016, that will be too late. I suggest for a change in constitution, this might be great. We can follow Switzerland where theres no president, only 7 men or women rule,& the power of the people they share, They represent and decide for the people with tender loving care. We already had 2 or 3 constitutions, two times or twice it was revised. Do you think the 1987 constitution is better, or do you think the 3 are really nice? Why our people always quarrel,... the Marines in Sulu...- The Scout Ranger friend of mine died there, he was hit in the *ulo. The NPAs cried injustice during the Martial Law, Their hearts filled with discontent-government forces and their adversaries hit against each other blow by blow. This poem will never end until the writer has seen peace. Our country is just a small one, never despise it for what it is. Viva La Filipinas! By and by, Ill eat **sardinas But before I end this poem, Let me share about the life of St. Thomas Aquinas. When he was not yet a saint, He met a lady, a woman, so comely. And later in his life, he heard a seductive voice calling: Thomas, thomas, do you still remember me? That very same lady whom he met before. But he must not be Saint Thomas More. His reply was simply.... Sorry, I am not the man I used to be. Thanks for the Jesuit priest who told me. Its just a simple story. In our very least, or at our very best, We should try to do something for our country. Viva La Filipinas! --- *head **sardines ***garlic ------- cc: twit to the Pope, CIA, PMA, Police.
