Vocal Pop & Jazz Days 2014 Blog door Elke Jansen Day 7 - bis Okay. This was it. My first Vocal Pop & Jazz Days came to an end. Im still in the process of landing on earth, probably will be until tomorrow morning. Our last day (yesterday) in Soesterberg was, as I would expect, one crazy adventure, starting with a headache - the day before I had a little too much fun - and ending with a hilarious Bonte Avond. Im afraid I have no translation for this word, but it has something to do with people doing crazy stuff on stage. Before that, we had a wonderful concert, full house, with the perfect combination of making real good music and having lots of fun. With my subchoir we sang three pieces, of which one was a house song, and one was the première of Alma Jane, with the music of our great coach Matthias Becker and the lyrics of my - new, crazy, brilliant - friend Annalisa Schmad. It was beautiful. Annalisa cried. Right after that performance, the selection choir sang three pieces. Again I experienced this feeling of ecstasy - without having taken any pill. It was nothing less than topsport, especially Chris Buzellis arrangement of Love on Top (Beoncé) and Darmon Meaders Lady be good. But I was still able to stay in contact with both my choir mates and the public. Awesome! I will not write about the Bonte Avond. That is something for the participants to cherish in their collective minds. There were tears, laughs, cables, boomwhackers, finger lamps and lots of hugs involved, thats all I can say. In the afternoon I had the privilege to give a thank you-speech to Kim Nazarian. I managed to not burst into tears, and was able to express my deepest gratitude to this extraordinary woman. She has really touched me in many ways, and I know she did that with all of us. Im gonna put an end to this 8-part story, but not without thanking the board and teachers for doing a marvelous job. Sander, Akke, Elisabeth, Jannie, Annalisa, you were great. And Merel Martens, I havent mentioned you often in my blogs, but you were really of great value to the course, in many ways. I admire your skills and professionalism. Needless to say I recommend the Vocal Pop & Jazz Days to anyone who likes singing vocal light music, young or old, amateur or professional. Thank you all for reading my blogs. If you liked them, and/or are in any other way interested in singing, please like our ZINGmagazine page. Bye, Elke Jansen
