Vodga Lungus Parentage?!? Mr Speaker those with a habit of throwing their party constitution in the dustbin should not think they will succeed in doing the same of our Republican Constitution. Sir our constitution is very clear that for one to contest the Republican Presidency, both his/her parents should be Zambian by birth or decent. Mr Speaker we also take into account the interpretation of this clause, by the Supreme Court in the Lewanika and Others Vs FTJ case in which it was held that were someone was ordinarily resident in the British Protectorate of Northern Rhodesia, such person would qualify as Zambian at the time of independence. Now Mr Speaker if Vodga Lungus mother was not ordinarily resident in Northern Rhodesia at the time of independence, he should not be eligible to contest the presidency. Can the Honourable Minister of home affairs issue a ministerial statement before this house to avoid a constitutional crisis in the nation ahead of the 20 January 2015 by-election. I beg to move sir
