Voice coarse, feet hurting, eyes half-closed, Mark Sheppard sassy. Must have been another con weekend! After passing out on the plane back to Vancouver, I woke up to reflect on all the events that had transpired over the last 3 days. It was DCcon, a one-off convention, and much like any your favourite shows filler episodes, expectations were low. Its still fun to see your favourite characters but you know youre not getting any juicy plot lines so you just try to enjoy what you can to hold you over till the next episode. Reinforcing that idea, we were also confined in the smallest convention hall ever, along with the smallest stage and with the lights shining into our eyes preventing us to see the crowd, hopes were low that we would be able to connect with the audience in a way that we normally do. Its always nice to see your friends and co-workers again, catch up to see if theyre still as crazy as when youve last seen them, but whats been really exciting for me this weekend was meeting so many people for the first time! So... it turns out, in the same way that some filler episodes happen, this became one of my favourite conventions thus far! A lot of you must think, Geez, Im such a creeper, I know way too much about these actors, and I probably harass them way too much on twitter and if anyone ever shows them my tumblr page Im going to burn down the internet. Well dont burn down the internet, but know that regardless of whether or not you get a reply, your presence online is definitely felt and at DCcon I was very excited to finally meet so many of you! Little Avatar icons come to life! You definitely made my weekend very memorable, I just wish I had more time to chill out and get to know everyone a bit better. Starting with my Cosplayers Isa and Gretchen, thank you for the sleepless nights in front of the sewing machine, linking the chain-mail, swapping out the diet cokes for water and a real convention weekend experience! To all the familiar faces Im used to seeing at these conventions, its because of you that I started to remember names. Thank you for that :) Everyone at my meet and greet. Thank you for sharing in the embarrassment by being in the inaugural photo of my Braveheart Dean cosplay with me. Yay! And Jack for always raising his hand before asking a question. To the many people I had a chance to chat with and probably annoyed trying to push out of their comfort zones. Grace, Andrew, Stephanie, and especially EVERY SINGLE person at that cocktail dance party Saturday night, SORRY and thank you for humouring me! Jehnii for continuing to paint and for the Pokeshoes, thank you, I love them. To everyone who was being too considerate to ever approach me, thank you but from here on out, heres permission to take a seat beside me or walk me to my next destination, just try not to forget to introduce yourself :) To the wonderful staff at Creation Entertainment that makes it all happen, the amazing volunteers for putting up with our shenanigans and to Tanisha for putting up with mine. For all the smiles, the hugs, the hats, the amazing Cosplays and random shrieks I never get a chance to associate with a face. The quick conversations that could have easily been much longer and every single person who shared that moment in tears with me during Holy Terror. Thank you for such an unforgettable weekend :)
