Volunteered at #WonderCon yesterday. Will never do that again. I showed up and was placed at the Masquerade Desk. I go to the cons because I love all the costumes so I was very happy to get the assignment. The initial girls were hecka nice and told me all the answers to most of the questions but left 30 minutes after I got there. Next thing I know, these other ladies showed up and they were on the actual staff. They talked to me but talked down to me at the same time. They huddled in their little group/clique and people would come to me to ask questions because I was facing outward toward the guest making myself more welcoming, whereas they had their backs to everyone. Every time I would get a question, a couple of the ladies would turn around and answer them while I was in the middle of answering them myself. Then another one was on a sliding computer chair and instead of getting her butt off the chair, she just slid around everywhere hitting my chair multiple times, not apologizing and twice actually hit me with the back of the chair. Most of you know my temperament so you would be proud of me in the fact that I didnt slap her in the back of her head. I was very professional. So now to blast their rudeness out to 8,000+ people. Maybe WonderCon should offer training on how to behave toward those who put in their time and gas to help them out. I paid a pretty penny for parking and put in my time and effort so I basically paid people to be rude to me. I could get that for free! :-/
