Von meinem iPad gesendet BLOOD SUCKERS I lived in Jervis St. When I had this experience. It was a beautiful summer day, and I was sitting on the banks of the Royal Canal, Dublin with my legs, up to the knees in canal water. I was inquisitively watching a float which belonged to an angler who was sitting on the opposite side of the canal, and anticipated that the float(cork) would begin to move at any moment when a fish found the bait on the hook below. Indeed, the float moved abruptly, and the angler grabbed the rod and pulled a little fish out of the water which he immediately threw back when he unhooked it. However I was getting a bit bored and decided to move on, and got to my feet, pulling my legs out of the water. As I bent down to put on my canvas shoes, I was horrified to see about 15 leeches(blood suckers) clinging to my legs. I immediately attempted to pick one off, but it was literally stuck to my leg. In desperation, I tried to scrape one off with my fingernails but parts of its body still stuck to me. After a few moments, I sat down on the grass verge and began to cry, I hoped that someone would come along and help me. A boy from school told me once that blood suckers were capable of killing a human being by drinking their blood and causing them to die from anaemia. That was, of course, humbug, which I found out later. However, about 5 minutes later a man approached , and asked, Is everything okay? Then he saw my predicament and said, AHA, I have a remedy for those bloody bastards!!! He bent over me and lit a cigarette, then he touched one of the blood suckers with the burning end, and it shriveled up and fell to the ground. He repeated this procedure till all of these parasites were extracted from my legs. Needless to say that I was overjoyed and thanked the man sincerely. He said, Just say a little prayer for me and went his way. On my way home, people were stareing at me because my legs were bloody. Naturally, I wouldnt wash them in that polluted canal. And last but not least, every Summer I bathed in that very canal with my pals but I never had such an experienced. After writing this story it occured to me that this canal was a favourite place for animal lovers who drowned superfluous kittens and pups in jute sacks, and it explains why there were so many leeches in the Royal Canal, Dublin.
