Vote for the Candidates that Really represent our Interests In the Public Housing Communities We the people of public housing must not squander our voting power and must invest our vote wisely for it will impact what happens in our Public Housing Communities starting January 1, 2014, in public policy, budget. I stated last week that I would break my silence and talk about the candidates in the Primary elections in New York City. I will try to limit my comments and suggestions to city wide and borough wide candidates and what I think of their positions on the issues that impact the Public Housing Community of New York City. What is at stake for the residents in the Public Housing Communities is how our homes will remain affordable, the facilities restored repaired and maintained, and resident empowerment through investment in the social/economic resources and services for Public Housing residents, seniors youth and families. In the last few days The City wide Campaigns for Mayor, Comptroller and Public Advocate seem to be focused on personal attacks and not on how the persons who want our votes will improve our quality of life. All of the proposals for Public Housing have focused on what will be done after the candidates get elected, not on strategic plans to run and operate NYCHA effectively, now. The candidates all seem to be pandering to us for our vote and have not made efforts to really reach out for anything except our vote. Most of all none have really made the case for us to trust them, and our support in Public Housing, is about trust. Think about what you have heard, in forums and debates since the beginning of the campaign season, and compare that to what has really been done for Public Housing by any of the candidates for City Wide Office. Indeed 3 of the Mayoral Candidates have held public office in the last 8 years, and only began speaking about public housing this year. We cannot exist on broken promises. I say that enough is enough. More to Come...
