Vote on Tuesday! Homer Community Schools is asking voters to return the non-homestead operating millage back to 18 mills do to headlee overrides. The current rate is 17.866 mills causing the District to lose about $3,200 in 2013-14. This non-homestead millage does not effect the taxes of homeowners or qualified agricultural property. The ballot question asks voters to approve a 2 mill cushion to account for future headlee overrides, although the maximum that can be levied at any one time is 18 mills. Dont forget to vote on Tuesday, August 5th.
