Voting today for mayor, city council member and a referendum on our city pier. I found the council candidates interesting: (1) endorsed by the SEIU, (2) a former poetry professor who fought off the Mayan calendar issue by sitting on his roof, wearing a tunic, and spinning two poles over his head, (3) a preservationist who supports cutting garbage pickups to one a week, and bringing a carousel to downtown St. Pete, and (4) an candidate involved in both recruiting girls for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as building public and private partnerships for a more effective workforce. Quite a selection....RESEARCH candidates before you vote! Otherwise they are just names.
