Vulnerability is more powerful than invincibility. I am going - TopicsExpress

Vulnerability is more powerful than invincibility. I am going to be honest and vulnerable. My 8th grade team lost a game today 34-32. We were up 11 at half and blew the game. This will be one of the more winnable games for us this year. We lack in talent, athleticism, and HEIGHT. On top of that--one of my starters just was injured and out for a month. In addition, a starter (a player with HEIGHT) was unable to play this year due to a health issue. Last years 8th grade team finished 3-17. This team is off to an 0-4 start. In the past 24 games coaching (since last season) at my middle school, Ive ONLY WON 3 games. Ive never lost this much since I first picked up a ball at the age of 5. It has been tough. Been tough to keep on motivating the kids when they try so hard, but yet fall short every time. Todays game was extra heartbreaking and saw the tears in their eyes after the game in the locker room. I almost didnt know what to say. I find myself searching for answers, trying to find the right combination, and put us in the best position to win. At times, I have even thought about quitting and asking God, Why does EVERY school seem to have better players than us..even the bottom teams. Or Am I even a good coach anymore? BUT......I WILL NOT QUIT. I will continue to fight, continue to persevere, and continue to encourage my boys for the prize. There is an old quote that says Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. We have fallen a lot, and we will continue to rise to greater heights. I love this game. #Usanalifestyle #OneBody #teacher #coach #noquit #basketball
