#WA #Bushfire #Advice #Corp Bushfire ADVICE for Parkerville, Stoneville and Mount Helena in the Shire of Mundaring Tuesday 21 January 2014 - 3:35 PM ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE remains for people in Parkerville, Stoneville, and Mount Helena in the Shire of Mundaring. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR The bushfire is contained and under control. IF YOU HAVE RETURNED HOME: Areas may still be hazardous due to hot spots, flare ups, damaged infrastructure and abstestos, downed powerlines and the risk of falling tree branches. Residents in this area also need to be aware electricity and water may still be affected. It is expected that the majority of residents will have had their power supply reconnected and they need to be mindful of appliances that may be re-energised in their home. If you are prepared with the appropriate equipment and protective clothing people can suppress small hot spots on their property if capable to do so. If in any doubt please call 000. ROAD CLOSURES: Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel, Western Power crews and contractors working on site. POWER: Western Power advises that electricity infrastructure has been repaired, and power has been restored to Parkerville, Stoneville and Mount Helena. Please note that some homes may remain without power due to possible internal connection faults. Contact Western Power on 13 10 87 for further information. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: It has been confirmed that 56 residential dwellings have been lost. Firefighters are currently mopping up and patrolling the area during the day. EXTRA INFORMATION: The fire was reported on Sunday 12 January. Preliminary investigations by EnergySafety indicate that the fire started following the failure of a private power pole. DFES is conducting further investigations with Police Arson and EnergySafety. There has been 386 hectares burnt. The Shire of Mundaring is managing the fire.
