#WA #Corp Category: Fire Alert Summary: ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for Forrestonia Southern Cross Road, also known locally as Marvel Loch Road, and east of the Holland Track in the Shire of Yilgarn Content: ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for Forrestonia Southern Cross Road, also known locally as Marvel Loch Road, and east of the Holland Track in the Shire of Yilgarn. The fire is burning towards the disused Bounty Mine. The Hyden-Norseman Road, 30 kilometres to the south of the fire, will also be affected by smoke. There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. WHAT TO DO: • Be extremely careful when driving through the area. • Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. • Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. • If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears. • If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222. ROAD CLOSURES: The following roads are closed: • Forrestonia Southern Cross Road at Hyden-Norseman Road • Forrestonia Southern Cross Road at Emu Fence Road • Holland Track at Hyden-Norseman Road • Holland Track at Queen Victoria Rocks Road • The junction of Marvel Loch Road, Forrestonia Southern Cross Road and Emu Fence Road For further details contact the Shire of Yilgarn. Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The bushfire is moving slowly in a northern direction. It is out of control and unpredictable. The bushfire has burnt through approximately 300 hectares. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: Volunteers from Moorine Rock Bushfire Brigade, staff from Department of Parks and Wildlife and Department of Fire and Emergency Services, together with contractors have been working to contain and control the fire.
