#WA #Fire #Corp Bushfire ADVICE for Harris River Road in the Shire of Collie Tuesday 29 October 2013 - 1:30 PM The following information has been issued by the Department of Parks and Wildlife ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people travelling near the intersection of Harris River Road north of Mornington Road in the Shire of Collie. The fire is burning in State forest away from Harris River Road, however smoke is visible and may drift over the road. The Bilbbulmun Track is closed between Mornington Road and Harris River Dam. The Munda Biddi Trail is closed from Patstone Road to the intersection of Wallis Road and Mornington Road. Any cyclists using the Dead Cats mountain bike trail are advise to move and use tracks east of the Harris River Road. DPaW is liaising with neighbouring landowners who have been notified of the fire. There is no threat to lives or homes. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date. WHAT TO DO: • Be extremely careful when driving through the area. • Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. • Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. • If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears. • If you have a respiratory condition and you have been been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222. ROAD CLOSURES: No roads are closed. Motorists should be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. For further details contact Main Roads WA on 138 138. RECREATION SITE CLOSURES: The Bilbbulmun Track is closed between Mornington Road and Harris River Dam. The Munda Biddi Trail is closed from Patstone Road to the intersection of Wallis Road and Mornington Road. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The fire is small and moving slowly in a north-westerly direction, but may increase as the fire front approaches older approaches older fuels. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: DPaW fire crews, five trucks and one front end loader, are working to contain the fire. A Shire of Collie bulldozer and water tanker are also assisting. The fire has burnt through less than a hectare. CAUSE: The cause of the fire is a vehicle accident. AGENCY RESPONSIBLE: The Department of Parks and Wildlife is managing the fire.
