WACCAMAW RAVEN TRIBE AND RAVEN NATION TO HOLD FOUNDING DAY RAVENS CAW - Monroe, N.C. - Members of the Waccamaw Raven Tribe plan a special Founding Day for Raven Nation on the shore of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. Many of our members and my family have ancestral origins of Lake Waccamaw and with the People of the Fallen Star at Lake Waccamaw, an eastern Siouan Tribe, who are having their annual Pow-Wow nearby, said Stefan Duncan, aka. Chief Ravenlight. The Raven Nation is an umbrella term for all the Raven sub-tribes. The concept of the Raven Tribe and founding was by Duncan. Raven Tribe is in a way, the American Tribe. We recognize ancestral linked Native Americans and the carded to be part of our tribe. We love America. We also believe that ancestral links count. Although a person may be linked to a certain tribe that our line, we acknowledge the link. And if the person shows true of heart the basic concepts of our culture and are honorable, we accept. We also will accept non-ancestral after a probation period to see there is a mutual agreement of a well fit. We are a family, Duncan said. When there are a group of accepted members of the Raven Tribe, if they so seek and are approved can be granted as an American sub-tribe, with the location added to the front of Raven Tribe. For example, the Waccamaw Raven Tribe, the Ashville Raven Tribe, etc. The Waccamaw Raven Tribe is the head tribe for Raven Nations. We hold the greatest respect to all Native Americans and tribe. Their members can be part of our nation. Our mission is to preserve the sacred cultures, to abide in the ways of honor, to share in the belief the Great Creator is in all that exists, whose Spirit flows through all land, animals, and man....everything that exists. As we are in our development stages and organizing, we look forward to great member participation. We will create a council. We will hold Pow-Wows and special ceremonies like giving tribal names to our members, blessings, and prayer to the Creator, Duncan said. The Waccamaw Raven Tribe and Raven Nation will not seek federal recognition as an Native American Tribe. We dont give benefits or be working the casinos. We are simply Americas that believe in the Great Spirit that is a living presence in the land and all around. There are thousands of Americans with ancestral links to native tribes but because of blood quorums, they are denied entry into the tribes. We recognize the ancestry links and those whose that seek answer the calling in their hearts to share with our basic belief that are deemed worthy, can be made honorary members, Duncan said. Our website is raventribeofficial and ravennationofficial . Daily we receive messages from full blooded Native Americans thanking us for seeking to preserve the heritage of their tribes and respect this great land of our country, Duncan said. The Waccamaw People of the Fallen Star begin their event on Friday, Oct. 17th. Chief Duncan and other members of his tribe will be there to celebrate the Waccamaw People. On Saturday, Chief Duncan will go to the shore of Lake Waccamaw to hold a special circle with their tribe members to bless the birth of the Raven Nation. They will also be announcing the Raven Tribe names of some of their members. One of our goals is to obtain...if only a foot-size bit of shore, a place where our future generations can come and observe the great beauty of the lake and the Great Spirits presence, Duncan said. Raven Tribe has members and supporters from across the country. We are so excited about the new Raven sub-tribes that are to be created. The Raven in Native American mythology is the bringer of Light. America is the beacon of Light for the world. The raven is our totem bird. Angel Oak is our Sacred Tree located on St. Johns Island near Charleston. Lake Waccamaw is considered the hearts soul of the Waccamaw Raven Tribe. If you are ancestral linked to a Native American Tribe or seek to answer the calling in your heart may apply for the application and prove after a period of time to be true of heart and in accordance of Waccamaw Raven Tribe, you may be admitted with a honorary membership Well need a lot of volunteers to help. We want to place on our site the cultural knowledge of our countrys tribes to be a resource center of information. I have faith we will grow stronger and have many sub-tribes across America, Chief Duncan said. Those interested in joining the tribe, if possible, be part of the first of founding celebration and blessing for Raven Nation.
