WAHALA DE O! CANT STOP LAUGHTING....Omisore’s canvassers in trouble over fund…as heissues ultimatum for refundSequel to his defeat at the August 9, 2014governorship election in the State of Osun, thePeoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorialcandidate in the election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has reportedly turned his anger on the partymobilisers across the 30 local governmentcouncil areas of the state.According to an impeccable source within theparty, the party flag-bearer was more thandisappointed over the outcome of thegubernatorial election in which he was flatlybeaten by the incumbent governor of the stateand the All Progressives Congress (APC)candidate, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The source further revealed that days before theelection, Omisore had boasted to whoever caredto listen that the election was just a mereformality as he had been assured by the powersthat be in Abuja that irrespective of the outcomeof the election, he would be announced as thewinner. However, not taken chances with the Abujaassurance, the PDP candidate was reported tohave raised a group of mobilisers from among hisloyalists within the party and saddled them withthe responsibility of persuading the electorate onqueue on the election day with monetary gifts. To make their jobs easier, the source revealedthat large chunk of money was made available tothe mobilisers with instruction to disburse thecash at the rate of N10,000 per voter dependingon how strong the ruling-APC was in such area. The mobilisers, according to the medium’sfindings, also played smart while disbursing themoney on election day, as the highest amountgiven to any voter that received the cash wasbetween N2,000 and N2,500.There was however the case of a particularpolling unit in Osogbo, the state capital, where thePDP mobiliser was observed to have givenmoney to 347 would-be voters on the queue, while at the end of the exercise, the PDPcandidate scored only 55 votes.Angered by his dismal outing at the poll, Omisorewas further reported to have sent out his men togo after the mobilisers and retrieve his moneyfrom them, since by his own calculation, thevotes he got did not commensurate with thenumber of votes he scored at the end of theexercise. One of the mobilisers, who is currently on the run, confided in our correspodent that he had to runaway from those Omisore sent with members ofhis immediate family, as he could not actuallyaccount for the money given to him to mobilisevotes for his principal.According to him, he actually distributed cash tosome of the would-be voters on queue asinstructed by their principal but was surprised tosee that the number of votes recorded by hisparty candidate did not commensurate with cashhe disbursed at the polling unit. It was alsogathered that some of the mobilisers did notdistribute part of the money meant for themobilisers, banking on the assurance by theFederal Government that the Osun election was adone-deal for the PDP.Some of the affected mobilisers were overheardat Adepele Guest House, Osogbo, few days ago, complaining regretting about their involvement inthe development, vowing that they would never bepart of such an arrangement in their lives again.“This is about the first time that a candidate willdemand for refund of election money after suchelection has been held. It is unheard of in my somany decades’ involvement in active partisanpolitics. If God should see me through thischallenge this time around, I will never beinvolved again. My children should not hear aboutthe development. It is nauseating. I am notgrowing younger”, one of the affected canvassers lamented..
