WAIT UPON THE LORD “Daniel 1:8-16 New International Version (NIV) “8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, 10 but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.” 11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.” My beloved brethren, remember that we are called to always wait upon the Lord God Almighty; for He is Holy and He is in control of everything seeing how every event begins and ends; He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Our faith is definitely tested in the wait, and sometimes during the wait our perseverance is tested through experience pain and loss (as crazy as that sounds, its true). A wise reminder: we are to always show respect to others during these times of waiting; that includes an irate boss, a grumpy parent, a tough teacher, police official giving you a citation, your enemies, etc. It’s easy to reciprocate love back to those who give it to you, but what great reward there is to be cordial and loving to those who do not!!! As you wait on the Almighty Holy Lord, be prepared to accept and with joy too; whatever He gives you for He knows what is best. Seek to be submissive in your attitude during these waits for there is nothing you can do to expedite it, unless He gives you permission to do so; so just go with it and see where He takes you. It’s also an opportunity for the Holy Almighty Lord to work in the hearts of those who may not know Jesus Christ the Lord God Almighty but they know you and see His strength and grace in you. Remember, you ask in faith knowing that He is working all things; and wait on the blessing and how He blesses you; remember He may bless you with a “No” because He is protecting you from the chance of grief to your soul and unknown stresses. When it comes to your decisions, do you need to move forward with your idea or decision before taking the necessary steps to weigh all sides? Faith is a function of being comfortable in circumstances that are out of your control. By letting go of having to get something now, you are able to watch the Holy Lord God Almighty provide something even better later. And if not here on earth, then in Heaven where it will be at its perfectness in His Will. Moreover, your quiet and compliant spirit is a channel for the Holy Spirit to draw others to Himself. Psalm 37:7 New International Version (NIV) “7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Yes, wait upon the Lord God Almighty and do not compare your wait to that of another’s or with what they receive from Him; you are an individual and uniquely created by Him and just for You He waters you with His Water of Life in your heart, so wait upon Him. Maybe this plays out with your parents not giving you permission to marry at this time, if so, be patient and trust the Holy Almighty Lord in it that there is a reason or maybe that He will simply change their heart or yours in His timing. Maybe you have a much better way to move forward with a project at work, but your boss is not convinced it is legitimate. Pray and submit to the authorities placed by Almighty Holy God, but trust in Almighty Holy God and that He will use creative solutions as a seed that grows into future changes. The Almighty Holy Spirit of God Almighty can convert people and circumstances as you wait on Him! Above all, make sure our Holy Almighty Heavenly Father signed off on your actions, before you barrel ahead with premature initiatives. It’s a hard habit to break; being impulsive and spontaneous, but it’s well worth it to be submissive and meek in the Almighty Holy Lord. It’s better to receive peace through patient prayer, instead of pain from impatient prayerlessness. Ask the Almighty Holy Spirit of God for permission before you proceed. Silence means wait, not now; no means I have something better in store for you and yes means move forward by faith. Thus, ask for permission now, so you won’t have to ask for forgiveness later. Romans 13:5 New International Version (NIV) “5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.”
