WALK-O-WONDERS 1956-1972 GREAT WESTERN SHOPPING CENTER Oversize postcards and opening brochure from the The Great Western Shopping Center(called Great Western Shoppers Mart on brochure) The Walk-O-Wonders occupied a 700-foot-by-60-foot strip in the parking lot of what was then known as Great Western Shoppers Mart, which opened in 1956. It included nine wonders of he world. The exhibit became somewhat of a tourist attraction, and it also drew merchants to the shopping center. The attraction was constructed by Ivan Pusecker, a local artist with financing provided by the developer Don Casto. The Walk-O-Wonders was often vandalized. Kids regularly poured soap powder into the water of Niagara Falls. Maintenance also became an issue. The exhibit disappeared sometime during the 1970s when the majority of the attraction was bulldozed, but the Eiffel Tower was there for seven more years. It was removed when the parking lot was resurfaced in 1979.
