WALKING LIKE CHRIST (Excerpt 3) (1 John 2:5-6 ESV) By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. In the first posting we discovered that if we are to walk like Christ we must first be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit like He did... In the seconding posting we read that it we are to walk like Jesus we will be led by the Spirit, fast and pray often, be tempted by the devil, resist the devil and temptation, and Obey the written Word of God. We will now go on reading what is the next step of walking like Christ... (Matt 4:17 NASB) From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In walking like Jesus we will call the world to repentance and faith in the gospel, but each according to our gifts and calling. But what are the exact things we will preach when we preach the good news? (Luke 4:14-19 NASB) And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district. 15 And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all. 16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. 17 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, 19 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” In walking like Jesus you will begin to preach and demonstrate the gospel to those whom you are closet to, Jesus started at Galilee where He grew up and then spread out from there, and we should do like wise. Many of us have lost our zeal and have gotten out of the habit of preaching and testifying the gospel, but if were going to walk like Jesus then we will proclaim release to the captives, the recovery of sight to the blind, the setting free of the captives, the acceptable year of the Lord! If Jesus is in us we will walk just like He walked, do just what He did. Proclaim the acceptable year of the Word! The next excerpt soon. Thanks for reading :)
