WALKING OFF AN OLD GRUDGE the dog takes me out for a walk. fatigue grabs ahold of both of us by the one collar, weakly, and tries to shakes some sense into us. words seem to form out of that sneer that passes for a mouth, but fatigues volume is always set so low its as hard to make out as on a first date. my dog doesnt even hear it, and i think we all know how exhausting that falsetto can be. a couple weary hand gestures later, and we get the point. its mid- afternoon and we all should be napping. im still mad they took that away from us in the first grade. some things are not meant to be resolved. on this walk i discover that being profoundly tired is not the same as being tired of being profound. not at all. pj rockwell 4/8/14
