WANNA GO INTO LAW SCHOOL??? Heres a chance to get a taste of what you might experience from the University of San Diego School of Law and get some fun community service hours if you need them. ________________________________________ Each semester, law students enrolled in our trial skills courses conduct mock trials to showcase their advocacy and litigation skills. For students to have a realistic trial experience, we enlist the help of community volunteers to serve as jurors for these trials. We would very much welcome participation from members of our USD community. These trials are a great opportunity for students who may be interested in attending law school or paralegal school, or who require volunteer service hours. We also welcome faculty and staff! The time commitment is small: Volunteers sit as jurors during the 2-3 hour trial, listen to the case, analyze the evidence, and render a verdict. Practicing attorneys and sitting judges preside over these trials and juries are typically comprised of USD students, high school and community college students, and community members. Fall 2014 Mock Trials November 4 or 5, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.: Superior Court of San Diego, South County Regional Center, 500 3rd Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910 (off campus). If you are interested in serving as a volunteer juror this semester, please complete the online registration form. https://surveymonkey/s/jurorregistration We will also have several opportunities during the Spring 2015 semester. If you are interested in volunteering in the future, please email Haley Shumaker, Assistant Director for Advocacy Programs at [email protected].
